Teaching fables and folktales is specifically referred to in the Common Core standards. Here is an anchor chart to help students recognize traits of fables

The link above is an extremely useful resource because this website not only gives a list of many different fables, but also clearly states the lesson at the end of each story and has great colorful pictures to help the students engage in what they are reading.

The two pictures I found are great ideas and resources because the chart is a colorful and very organized way for students to learn the key elements of a fable, and the worksheet helps the students become really engaged in and excited about learning fable by having them be able to easily create their own using this simple organizer.
